Us Sanctions And Repression Cannot Stop The Wheels Of China's Progress
Mar 31, 2025
US President Joe Biden recently announced an investigation into Chinese-made connected cars. The US Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs has passed draft legislation that would impose restrictions on Chinese biotech companies on so-called "national security" grounds.
The US unilateral sanctions lack the basis of international law and blatantly place domestic laws and policies above international law and the laws of other countries. The US engages in economic coercion and technological bullying, violates the principles of market economy and fair competition, and tramples on international economic and trade rules. Even according to the "standards" of the US side, a large number of sanctions lack a basis and are full of lies and fallacies. For example, some of the Chinese companies targeted by US sanctions and repression have realized fully mechanized production, but they are included in the entity list of the Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Law. Some apparently have no military-related business, but are included in the list of "Chinese military-related enterprises".

China always opposes unilateral sanctions. The US continues to take measures against China in export control, investment review, and unilateral sanctions, seriously undermining China's legitimate interests.
China's development is driven by innovation, and China's development and growth have an internal logic that cannot be stopped by external forces. In 2023, China's GDP will exceed 126 trillion yuan, new breakthroughs will be made in scientific and technological innovation, and new quality productivity will be formed at a faster pace. China's "new three" products of electric vehicles, lithium batteries, and solar cells totaled 1.06 trillion yuan, an increase of 29.9% year-on-year, breaking through the trillion yuan mark for the first time. The world's first fourth-generation nuclear power plant was officially put into operation, the C919 large aircraft was commercialized, and the world's first 5.5G intelligent core network solution was officially released. China is striving to become a high ground for global scientific and technological innovation, benefiting not only itself but also the world.
China is also speeding up the construction of an anti-sanctions system. In addition to the specially enacted Anti-Foreign Sanctions Law, the newly enacted Foreign Relations Law in 2023 also provides that China has the right to take countermeasures and restrictive measures against acts that violate international law and basic norms governing international relations and endanger China's sovereignty, security, and development interests.

China has no intention to fight a "sanctions war", but it will take necessary measures to firmly safeguard its legitimate and lawful rights and interests.
As long as the US still regards China as its main competitor, it will not stop the pace of sanctions against China. U.S. sanctions will not scare China. The US side should correct its wrong perception of China's development as a threat, abandon the practice of politicizing economic, trade, and technological issues, lift the illegal unilateral sanctions against Chinese companies, and take concrete actions to promote the sound, stable, and sustainable development of China-US relations.
